About this Cohort
Discrimination in policing, including racial profiling, weakens trust between law enforcement and communities, particularly those vulnerable to hate crimes. Despite its significance, these issues are often overlooked in hate crime training. This course takes a multi-stakeholder approach to address these issues, aiming to foster long-term collaboration among police forces, civil society, public authorities, and equality bodies for the benefit of hate crime victims and affected communities.
Designed for police officers across the EU, community organisation representatives, equality bodies, and professionals committed to improving police-community relations, the course explores key forms of discrimination in policing, evidence-based strategies for fair policing, and multi-stakeholder approaches to challenge discriminatory practices. Through social learning, networking opportunities, real case studies, and expert-led tutorials, participants will gain practical tools to promote fair and rights-based policing while engaging directly with leading experts in the field.
You’ll have the opportunity to learn about discrimination in policing and its impact on communities while developing a deeper understanding of fair and rights-based policing. A commitment to multi-stakeholder learning and cooperation is required, as well as a basic knowledge of hate crime.
