Facing Facts Forward
EUROPEAN CONFERENCE: FOR A VICTIM-CENTRED APPROACH TO TACKLING HATE CRIME 3-4 march 2015, Brussels
Facing Facts Forward organized a European Conference in Brussels on the subject of recording and reporting of hate crimes. Following on from the advocacy successes of recent years, Facing Facts Forward! continued to facilitate and strengthen the cooperation between governments, law enforcement, prosecutors, civil society organisations and international organisations to tackle hate crimes. The conference aimed to identify practical steps and infrastructures that such organisations can implement to foster and stimulate long lasting partnerships towards establishing good quality national monitoring systems according to international standards and to encourage victims to report.
The conference was professionally facilitated with highly participatory methods which helped all participants to identify practical strategies for institutional change, thereby mutually reinforcing our various efforts. Representatives of governments, law enforcement, prosecution services, civil society and international organisations were challenged to take realistic steps to produce short and long term results. CEJI’s facilitation competences guaranteed a safe space for all to cooperate in a constructive way, enabling participants to actively engage with the topic.
